the universal

Works · Studio

We build together, and we stay to the end.

The work the universal takes on comes in many shapes: tools, sites, identity, consulting. The way we make it stays the same. We look at the client's work first, then help that work run better.

What we make

We do not fix the category in advance. We shape the work around the client's. Some pieces are proven inside our own shop first and then move outward (traig, damchon), and some are built side by side with the client (Carehub, Jigeuk Jeongseong, Woori Hwawon).

How we approach the work

When a request comes in, the first thing we do is listen. What the client has already made, what they hold, what they want to keep. We decide what is needed on top of that. We prefer tidying over building anew. So most of our work is closer to sorting than adding.

We try not to make too much. When parts that are not essential pile up, the work gets heavy. We know that taking away and tidying is the harder job, so we take that job on ourselves.

We do not let go once it is built. The friction found in running it, the awkwardness the client feels in daily use. Working through those small things together makes up half of the work.

Rooting for the client's work

A good shop, a good center, a good flower store, a good product. What the client has already built up holds their time and care. Without shaking that ground, we take the next step with them.

As much as results, our goal is to help the client do their own work longer and with more joy. When a tool comes in and the client gets to focus more on their own work, that is where we feel we did well.

The work so far

Pick a recent piece from the list on the left. Among them, traig is not a typical commission but an in-house product. The category is different, but the way it is made is the same.
