damchon — relearning the world through children
A dad and his kids, drifting through the neighborhood by bike. Hunting for playgrounds in every alley, relearning the area through a child's eyes.
The second brand by the universal
damchon is the second sub-brand made by the universal. the universal works at one end on very high technology — trading AI running on continuous strategies, like traig. At the other end, it works on everyday life that has nothing to do with technology. damchon sits at that other end.
If traig is the place that pushes efficiency as far as it goes, damchon is the place that goes slowly on purpose. No destination set. A faster route ignored in favor of a side street. We believe certain things only come from that intentional inefficiency. What the universal does at damchon is leave that slowness in a form anyone can follow along with.
00 — damchon
The story of damchon is simple. We relearn the world through children. Things forgotten long after becoming an adult — what is at the end of an alley, which wall a cat lives on, whose playground slide is fastest — children teach those things again.
A dad puts the kids on a bike and drifts through the neighborhood. No destination decided. He turns the handlebar whichever way the child wants to go that day.
Grown-ups pass through a street.
A child stops in it.
01 — Wandering the neighborhood
Every corner, hunting for a playground.
Most of damchon’s days pass on a bicycle. Into side streets instead of main roads. Down dead ends, all the way to the wall.
That is how the neighborhood’s playgrounds are found, one by one. A small rest spot that doesn’t appear on any map. A patch of sand hidden between apartment blocks. A shaded spot under a staircase. For a child, all of it is a world seen for the first time. For a dad, it is a place he passed without stopping for years.
02 — Loving the place
No need to go far.
damchon is not a story of going somewhere distant. It is a story of looking a little more slowly at the neighborhood you already live in, the streets you already walk every day. Love does not restart somewhere grand. It restarts somewhere familiar.
So damchon grows smaller the more it wanders. Not farther, but deeper. Walking the same alley again and again, the neighborhood looks different each time — as the seasons change and the children grow.
